Amy Lee Needs To Swallow Something !

Ben Moody (who was the only good thing about Evanescence) is forming a new band with Ex-American Idol contestant Carly Smithson, bassist Marty O'brien and former Evanescence band mates Rocky Gray and John LeCompt.

In a recent interview with the L.A. Times Ben Moody mentioned that his new band The Fallen:

"Is a real band. It was never set up that way in the past. This band is one hundred percent democracy. Everyone is equal. Everyone brings their own crap to the table. And what also is different is that I believe it's better. The music is more exciting. It's got more intensity behind it.

This is bringing more energy than Evanescence could ever muster. And I mean Evanescence in its best day. We’re older. We’re better. We’re tighter. The music is louder. The music is heavier. This is just better."

So Amy Lee decided to respond back with this:

"There's some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I'd like to clear up some confusion in the press.

"As our fans already know, Ben Moody left EVANESCENCE in 2003. EVANESCENCE came out with a follow-up to 'Fallen' in 2006. It was called 'The Open Door' and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. 'The Open Door' has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.

"We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too.

"Look out for new music next year..."

First of all, no one ever really gave a crap about anything Evanescence did without Ben Moody, Evanescence had a lot of annoying things going on, and when Moody left the band that really sealed the deal with them ever releasing anything worth giving a shit about. You say "The Open Door" sold over 5 million copies, while "Fallen" sold over 15 million copies that's a whole lot of more sales.

Ben went on to release some great music with a lot of musicians, (*Edit*"Everything Burns") for the Fantastic Four OST featuring Anastacia, and "The End Has Come," for The Punisher OST featuring Jason C.Miller (Godhead) and Jason Jones (Ex-Drowning Pool, AM Conspiracy) that's just an example.

Evanescence = Bring Me To Life which also featured Paul McCoy of 12 Stones, long story short Evanescence was never about Amy Lee yet she keeps sucking any hope for this band to do anything worthwhile with her idiocy. Sooner or later that snatch is gonna dry up.

Here's Carly Smithson performing Bring Me To Life on the "Idols Live Tour 08"

Ben Moody is a failure. His stupid album sold shit. Amy Lee is Evanescence, and she will always be more successful than any of those retards trying to start "The Fallen". Let's just wait to see who tops the charts. The Call Me When You're Sober single reached platinum status and got on TRL. Something Fallen never did.

"Fallen" was their highest success to date, call me when your sober follows the same formula that made them big.

Bring Me To Life was certified 2x Platinum, Going Under (Gold), My Immortal (Platinum)

Whatever success she had with "The Open Door" was just the remains of "Fallen"

Ben might not be great as a solo artist, but all his work with others is different and fresh.

wtf are you 2 idiots talking about? ben is an awesome solo artist and ev is next to nothing w/o him. of course amy will prolly be a great solo artist as well if and when she decides to make that jump.

fallen has sold several million copies, not 15 million. get your facts straight. and the song is 'everything burns' not what you said. again get your facts straight.

bottom line - THE FALLEN are gonna be what ev should have been after the release of fallen and the departure of ben. they're picking up right where he left off several years ago.

be afraid. be very afraid.

Fallen was a success because of Daredevil. It all comes down to a matter of opinion. I choose Amy Lee's uniqueness and experimentation over Ben Moody's safe and risk-free commercial music (which will obviously do better in sales).

Please inform me of the "formula" that CMWYS has in common with Fallen.

Anonymous, STFU. Seriously... Your bad grammar and lack of intelligence are enough to make me send you back to 3rd grade.

Pop-Goth (with little if at all any difference in song structure) dealing with the same lyrical themes...Boys and relationship issues, adding only a little bit of struggling with being a rockstar to the mix.

"The Open Door" was a safe release, where they used the same ideas only rehashed them to work on a new release. one of Amy Lee's biggest issues is not being a team player, one of the reasons Evanescence has a revolving door of musicians is because its hard to work with her. She doesnt want to experiment or try something new, she wants things done her way.

I'm not surprised that Amy felt the need to respond to the formation of the new band.

Comparisons are often a facile but empty way of reflecting inate biases saying little about the things being compared.

For fuck's sake, why does music have to be all about sales? It makes me sick.

Amy Lee AND Ben Moody are inspirational, talented musicians - I admire them both for that, not by how many records they've sold.

Music is supposed to be enjoyed, not to be going to fucking war. So stop taking sides as if it is one.

This whole article is bull***t! Saying that Ben was the only important part about Evanescence is so narrow minded. Only true fans know and understand that both, Ben and Amy, were each important in their own ways to the success of Evanescence. And fyi, is a fact that Ben always went for a more commercial style in music (as stated by himself, do your research if you want to, hence why all the collaborations with big artist like Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion and Anastacia) and Amy was more into making unique music with a classical influence (like The Open Door shows). Saying that one was better than the other is simply and plain not true, because that 15 million of records or more were in fact thanks to both of them, and also the other members from the beginning.

Oh and before i forget, the ones who need to swallow something VERY BIG are the people who wrote this biased article.

Fans of both Amy and/or Ben don’t let this kind of crap articles fool you!! That’s what the media wants!! Why fight over who’s better than the other if we can support both!!

I would like to point out my opinion.. and I've followed the musical evolution of Evanescence since before Fallen came out.

Amy Lee is a very talented musician. No doubt about that... but she's got a lot to learn also. She sings great on the albums... but when she sings live she's a mess. She plays the piano flawlessly though... and that's her real forte. Ben Moody is an awesome musician and the combination of both their talents is what made Evanescence so great in the beginning. They had a unique sound and people loved it. When Ben Moody left it was a terrible loss for Evanescence... and their sound changed. People expected The Open Door to be heavier, and to see a real musical evolution in the band... and it was the opposite. The songs were less heavy, more commercial and a lot of people were really dissapointed because of that... myself included.

Carly Smithson may have been on American Idol but she's an awesome singer and far better than Amy is. I'm not surprised that WE ARE THE FALLEN sounds very much like the old Evanescence considering the fact that Ben Moody influenced a lot in the original Evanescence sound...

When you don't do things the right way, sooner or later it comes back to bite you in the ass. Sorry Amy.
