Apparently KORN has canceled their upcoming EP, because they plan on expanding the release into a full length. It seems like the band is currently working with a number of Dubstep Djs on the effort.

Interesting to note. KORN will not be replacing drummer Ray Lazier with a drum machine (even though that would've been a horribly hilarious joke). Instead the band will be experimenting with triggers.

I'm not sure why I went ahead and downloaded a new track on Korn's website (maybe it's due to an all nighter of "under-the-hood" fixing; thanks to our former hosting service).

Apparently the band collaborated with Dubstep DJ/Producer Skrillex on the song. And it's nothing beyond what you would imagine from such a collaboration. It's Korn remixed.

I don't mind Dubstep in small doses. There's a few remixes that are not half bad [Link1, Link2]. The music itself would be crap if you're not a "friendly-person" with a great set of headphones (I always use my trusty Sennheiser's to actually "feel the bass"). But Korn's attempt is boring. It's just meshing two genres together. And that's been done so much already; there's a shit ton of Youtube apps and sites that allow you to do just that. There's no edge here.

Could the panel of judges at the Grammys be more irrelevant? It's like whoever is picking the nominees is still using a gramophone, and not by choice.

Every year, I decide to build up enough interest to go through the list of nominees of Hard Rock and Metal and not a single time have they managed to put together a worthwhile list. It's not that the list is unfair or anything, but a 5 year old at the mall can put together their annual list of "best-of."

Anyway, here's the nominees:
(If you were slightly surprised (by even one bit) by any names on the list, please do tell me why.)

Best Metal Performance:
  • Iron Maiden, “El Dorado”
  • Korn, “Let the Guilt Go”
  • Lamb of God, “In Your Words”
  • Megadeth, “Sudden Death”
  • Slayer, “World Painted Blood”

Best Hard Rock Performance:
  • Alice In Chains, “A Looking In View”
  • Ozzy Osbourne, “Let Me Hear You Scream”
  • Soundgarden, “Black Rain”
  • Stone Temple Pilots, “Between The Lines”
  • Them Crooked Vultures, “New Fang”

Korn, might not be on my alley of bands I listen to anymore, and I highly doubt that they'll be making it back in there with their new album. But their new drummer Ray Luzier (Army of Anyone and Ex-David Lee Roth's band) who is certainly no Clavin Klein model, is one badass dude.

In a recent interview with BareBones Music. Ray gives the site an exclusive drum lesson for the band's latest single "Oildale (Leave Me Alone)" from their latest studio offering "KORN III: Remember Who You Are" out now on RoadRunner Records.

Watch the lesson below, as Ray gives some great pointers for all drummers seriously looking into having a career as being a metal musician.

KORN recently went on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE to perform 2 new tracks (Oildale and Let The Guilt Go) from their upcoming album "KORN III: Remember Who You Are" out July 13th via Roadrunner Records.

Korn, I mean KoЯn, revealed the cover art for their upcoming 9th studio album "Korn III: Remember Who You Are," which will also be the band's debut album for Roadrunner Records. The cover art, does vibe their earliest work, in a more disturbing way, but still has a stock photo feel.

The album was produced by Ross Robinson, who handled production duties on the band's first 2 albums, the reason being, that this album supposedly picks up where "KoЯn (1994)" and "Life Is Peachy (1996)" left off, hence the title "Korn III: Remember Who You Are."

The first single for "Oildale (Leave Me Alone)" was recently released. You be the judge! (available after the jump!)

"Korn III: Remember Who You Are" comes out July 14th on RoadRunner Records. Following is the album's track listing:

  1. UBER-TIME
  2. OILDALE (LEAVE ME ALONE)
  3. POP A PILL
  4. FEAR IS A PLACE TO LIVE
  5. MOVE ON
  6. LEAD THE PARADE
  7. LET THE GUILT GO
  8. THE PAST
  9. NEVER AROUND
  10. ARE YOU READY TO LIVE ?
