METAL INJECTION, one of my all time favorite/main go-to sites for exclusive metal videos, music, and interviews, recently posted about the middle eastern metal scene and our new digital compilation album "Volume 2: Sounds of The Middle East," where I had the pleasure of answering questions about the metal scene in the Middle East, and our new compilation. Check out an excerpt from the interview below:
"What about Middle Eastern metal makes it unique?
What makes Middle Eastern metal unique would be the situation here is much more complicated for bands. You can't really promote metal publicly because the general public view it as something negative and immoral, and don't really take the time to understand what most of these bands are really trying to express."

Darkest Hour drummer Ryan Parrish has started penning a new column for Metal Injection titled A View From Behind The Drumkit, where he will have an open forum to discuss any topic on his mind. The first topic he chose to tackle was eating while on tour. It's something most fans don't even think about it, but there is so much to consider when timing your food intake. Here is an excerpt:
“I’ve tried to plan my meals accordingly but by waiting to long, I usually end up so hungry that I’m supine and debilitated. On the flip, when I chow down vigorously beforehand, I’m so sick by the end of the set I’ve eaten the same meal twice; not by choice. You really haven’t experienced all of tour’s subtle profanities until you’ve had one of those horrifying moments where at any minute, a grande quesadilla’s going to make a special appearance behind the kit and rip a sickening drum solo on your sense of smell.”

[Press Release] Italian metal act STIGMA have made their track "The Undertaker" available for free streaming/download on MetalInjection.net.Visit this page to download the track
When asked about the song, vocalist Vlad Ghersi writes:
"'The Undertaker' is definitely one of our favorite songs of the record, it's the very last we wrote before heading to the studio and I think it's hand down the catchiest song we've written so far!
Lyrics wise, I'm sorry to let you all down, but this song is not about the WWE superstar! In fact, like all the others featured on our new album, 'Concerto For The Undead,' is inspired by stories taken from the Tales From The Crypt comics! In this particular case I got inspired by a story entitled 'Fitting Punishment', where an old man… an undertaker in a small village, gets rid of his dead sister's son after treating him like a slave because he had no place to go after his mother died.
After beating the young guy to the point he had to walk with crutches for the rest of his life, the miserable old man kicked him down the stairs to use a coffin he made by mistake! Of course this isn't the end of the story, cause the undertaker had a lame visit a few days later…!"
As part of their epic coverage of the black carpet at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, Metal Injection had a chance to speak to Metalocalypse creator, Brendan Small who revealed that he is working on a musical side project with Gene Hoglan due out in the fall.
Here is what he had to say:
"I'm finishing the season then I'm going into the studio and I'm finishing a solo record that me and Gene Hoglan, and the same Dethklok producer did, so if you like Dethklok, it'll be the same thing, and it'll come out this fall."
When asked if the tone of the record would be less silly he quipped back
"It'll be as wise-assy as it needs to be but if you like the riff style, the double kicks, the Gene Hoglan playing, the guitar playing…the vocals will be a bit more melodic but still a heavy project"

Metal Injectionpremiered the brand-new music video from Reading, PA metal maniacs Gloominous Doom’s upcoming LP, The Feature, today! The gut-busting video for “Portal Potty” is half-concept, half-performance, as the band rock out in their garage and encounter a magical port-a-john that takes them back in time to come face-to-face with such historical luminaries as Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, Jerry Garcia, Abraham Lincoln, and even Jesus himself! Directed by Dave Causa with special effects by Allen Jackson (6 O’Clock Studios), “Portal Potty” is a hilarious, booze’n’babe-fueled adventure through space and time.
Check it out after the jump, or by clicking here. Clocking in at just under an hour, the second LP from Reading, PA’s Gloominous Doom totals fifteen songs, and comes jam-packed with tongue-in-cheek humor, razor-sharp riffs, thrashing mayhem, punk attitude, death metal ferocity, low-slung reggae grooves, and just a dash of drag-racin’ PBR-guzzlin’ backwoods flair. The Feature will be available from DRP Records on May 4, 2010.
Gloominous Doom’s high-energy, genre-bending sonic assault and merciless work ethic have earned them scores of fans along the East Coast. Brooklyn Vegan has lauded their wacky, tongue-in-cheek take on dead-serious metal, applauding their “kitchen sink metal, a bit of death metal, grind, and even ska (!), playing songs with titles like "Urine Trouble".
