METAL MINUTE !!!!

Yup its been a while... I've been lately swamped with stuff to do, and messages to reply to, anyway... I'm here to update you with some awesomely news bits from the metal scene's finest !

First up,

Our buddy Axl Rose,

Rumor has it, that the main reason behind Axl's sudden disappearance before the release of Chinese Democracy was due to his attempts at re-uniting the original line-up. Fingers crossed ???

The whole deal with Dr. Pepper just turned into an argument between a couple of 6 year olds, in a playground arguing with one another, with piss covering their pants, Axl Rose's lawyers demanded an official apology from Dr. Pepper for the wussy move that ended up happening, with a ton of America left dry with no soda in their hands, due to Dr. Pepper's servers crashing because of the high traffic that hit the webpage all at once, on the day of the album release.

Dr. Pepper's executives where nice enough to extend the scheme for another day, but GNR lawyers demanded an apology from the soda makers, claiming that the campaign was not good enough.

What was Dr. Pepper's response to this ?

They refused to apology and said "We are disappointed that GN'R's lawyers are turning a fun giveaway into a legal dispute. We simply commented on the delayed release of Chinese Democracy and openly encouraged the band to release it before the end of the year. Axl (Rose, frontman) even expressed support for our efforts earlier in the year. This was one of the largest responses we have ever received for a giveaway, and we're happy we were able to satisfy the thirst of so many Dr Pepper fans. We wish Guns N' Roses the best with their album."

Next thing you know, Axl's lawyers will end up giving the executives over at Dr. Pepper some proper wedgies.

One thing I'd like to point out, an album that's been in the making for 17 years, with all this talk/propaganda and Axl still didnt decide to shoot a video for it, Uh man Slash better be shredding with Axl soon, before Axl's swallowed alive by his die-hard fans.

Chinese Democracy, sold 267,400 copies on its first week, putting it at #3 at the Billboard's weekly albums sales chart, right behind Swift's "Fearless" and Kanye West's "808s and Heartbreak".

So far, the album is on a rocky boat, if Axl doesnt clean up his act quick and start doing what musicians do when they release material....

Killswitch Engage, New album in the works !

Killswitch Engage, announced the recording of their upcoming album, the as-yet titled album, will be the follow up to 2006's "As Daylight Dies" which is approaching gold certification along with 2004's End Of Heartache.

For the first time in the band's career, they'll be working with an outside producer, Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, Incubus, Papa Roach, Stone Temple Pilots and Bob Dylan)



United We Rock, voting reset due to high traffic hitting the site's servers !

Over the past couple of days, there has been some updates over on the official "United We Rock" website concerning the "voting system" :

Judas Priest nominated for two Grammy's !

"Metal legends Judas Priest have today been nominated for 2 awards at this year’s Grammy's. The band are up for Best Hard Rock performance for Visions as well as Best Metal Performance for Nostradamus (single). Commenting on behalf of the band, Glenn Tipton said:

“It’s great to be nominated again for two Grammy's and maybe this time, after over 35 years of flying the metal flag - maybe just maybe - we might get one !!”

Metallica is feeding us "All Nightmare Long"

Yup Metallica released yet another video from their "Death Magnetic" release, well sort of !

"The video depicts fictional Soviet newsreels about the infamous Tunguska event in 1908. At the impact site, spores of an unknown species are discovered that can reanimate the dead. The Soviets exploit this as a weapon to turn the tide in a war against nuclear America."

I guess Metallica will keep stiring up controversy through out their career, even without showing up in the video... the video could've been simply done by an internet film maker, along with his buddies...Keep an eye out for my review of "Death Magnetic" for my opinion about the whole Metallica buzz lately.

Deftone's Chi Cheng still in a coma !

Deftones bassist Chi Cheng remains in a coma as a result of an early-November automobile accident. The band has issued the following update on their myspace:

"Chi remains in a coma, and as of this morning there's been no significant change in his condition. Last week he was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit and transferred to a brain rehabilitation hospital in Northern California. The hospital specializes in the care and management of traumatic and non-trauma related brain injuries with a team of highly skilled therapists, nurses and consultants. He's in great hands. Please continue to pray for our brother, and thank you all for your love and support."







The Dillinger Escape Plan plan on releasing a new album in 2009 !

The Dillinger Escape Plan is planning to enter the studio in June/July 2009 with producer Steve Evetts (EVERY TIME I DIE, SEPULTURA) to begin recording its new album. Although no release date has been set, it is expected that the fans will see something late 2009.






Kreator post "Warcurse" off their new album "Hordes Of Chaos" !

German thrash metal veterans Kreator have posted a new song, "Warcurse", on their MySpace page. The track comes off the group's new album, "Hordes Of Chaos", which will be released in Europe on January 19, 2009 via SPV Records (except in Germany, where it will be issued on January 16). The CD will arrive in the U.S. on January 13.

In other news, Kreator has announced that it will unveil a 3-D stage, complete with a multi-media video set, on its next world tour, set to launch in January 2009. The band has been working hard with light artist Margarida Moreira to create the ultimate stage setup.

"Hordes Of Chaos" will be available in three different versions. The jewel case edition includes the ten regular album songs, and the deluxe version features an additional bonus DVD with an atmospheric making-of in super-8 quality courtesy of a Berlin filmmaker. As a third option, the ultra-deluxe version comes with a t-shirt, a worthwhile photo book and an extended version of the bonus DVD, as well as the CD.

The "Hordes Of Chaos" artwork (view here) was created once again by Joachim Luetke. Luetke designed the artwork for Kreator's last album, "Enemy Of God", as well as past releases from bands like Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy and Rage.
