Genre: Grindcore
Label: Earache Records
Release date: May 3rd, 2011
Reviewer: Paul Williams
Wormrot’s “Dirge” is exactly what you would expect it to be. Pure butt-fuck annihilation of the utmost degree. Simple. As. That.
If you can recall being floored and groped by Wormrot’s “Abuse” then you have nothing to fear when it comes to thinking they might be a one hit wonder; “Dirge” not only takes you down and has a feel about but it, once again, shows that these little Asian buggers can pack one hell of a punch within an album that is only 18 minutes long.
With their old school grind ethics and influences Wormrot don’t contribute anything new to the grindcore genre but they prove that old school is the right school, bitch! From “No One Gives A Shit” through to “The Final Insult”, Wormrot play some filthy as fuck and classically carnivores grind that is raw, randy, and rather retarded. It’s the grindcore way.
All you really need to know about this album is that if you like grindcore in the vein of Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Nasum, and Insect Warfare, then you’ll probably find yourself falling for this album with its grooves, hyper active drumming, grunts and gurgles. Also, unlike most premature endings, “Dirge” is able satisfy all my grindy windy needs, and still give me time to have a cup of tea before bed. F’in’ A!

[PRESS RELEASE]
Singapore's #1 grindcore export, WORMROT have released a brand new track from their forthcoming album, DIRGE. The track, entitled "Manipulation," is a minute-long burst of ferocity, terror and outright aggression. It hits all of the marks that have endeared WORMROT to the worldwide metal underground.
"Manipulation," along with the rest of DIRGE was completed less than 10 days ago. Drums were completed on January 4th, guitars, vocals, mixing and mastering were completed in various days ending on January 10th. In many ways, "Manipulation" is as raw as WORMROT gets -- a hell of a way to raise the already high expectations for DIRGE.
Check out "Manipulation," the debut track from WORMROT's forthcoming album, DIRGE, as well as a first look at the album's cover art, created by Andrei Bouzikov (MUNICIPAL WASTE, SKELETONWITCH, CANNABIS CORPSE) below:
DIRGE arrives in North America on May 3rd.
The rumors are true! WORMROT will be grinding up the audience at the Scion Rock Fest. It takes place in Pomona, CA on March 5th at the Fox Theater and The Glass House.. While the wait is on to announce whom WORMROT will be playing with, we can also now confirm that Scion will not be their only US gig. The band has a full scale US tour that will take WORMROT from coast to coast in March and April, including a stop at SXSW. Dates will be announced soon.
WORMROT's debut album, ABUSE, is available now worldwide featuring 23 tracks of pure grindcore. Get the album now in North America along with several exclusive mercy and vinyl combos at.
ABUSE is also available now on iTunes [Click Here To Order] with 34 (yes, 34!) bonus tracks

[PRESS RELEASE]
The critically acclaimed grind act, WORMROT will be heading into Singapore's TNT Music Productions this January to record a brand new album entitled DIRGE. With this being the full-length followup to ABUSE, the band promises to bring their breakneck grind tones to grim new lows. Frontman, Arif Rot is highly excited about the band's new material and wants the world to know about it:
"We are definitely stoked to get this album out. We are working extra hard on this one. EXTRA FUCKING HARDER THAN ABUSE. We are currently in the rehearsal studio still writing songs and making some minor adjustments and what not. If you are digging Abuse and also from our latest split with I ABHOR, then u might dig the new album. We'll be in the studio for "DIRGE" first week of January. NEW YEAR WITH A NEW DOSAGE OF GRIND!"
WORMROT's new album, DIRGE is due out in Spring 2011.
MetalSucks' Axl Rosenberg called ABUSE one of his top 15 metal albums of 2010. "There were other awesome grind albums this year which easily could have made this list" says Axl, "but nothing felt quite as furious as Abuse."
WOMROT's own Arif Rot also created his own 2010 best-of list for MetalSucks. Which you can read here.
The Metal Injection crew braved the tight spaces and absolutely insane pits of WORMROT's October show at Archeron in Brooklyn, NY to deliver raw, up close footage of the band grinding it out at what they said was one of their favorite shows of the tour. Start by watching
"Intro" here.
