Well not really. But according to the second "Making of" clip for the new MACHINE HEAD album. Rob Flynn claims that the record deals with music "as a religion" and how it's helped him through his darkest times.
It seems like Roadrunner Records recently hired some reality TV reject to produce promo clips for their bands. First it was Dream Theater and now Machine Head. It's like a boner kill. I can't really get excited about the new Machine Head record after watching a clip that I'm pretty sure dumbed me down.
Why can't they just release clips that feature killer snippets from the new record and a bunch of funny scenes in between as they rip it up on their instruments like any other band would do. Seriously, quit it with this type of stuff RR!
This won't be a major surprise to industry folks as WMG have owned over 70% (73.5% to be exact) of RoadRunner Recordssince 2007.But, earlier today Billboardreported, that RoadRunner Records is now officially owned by WMG (Warner Music Group). Joining other major labels such as Atlatic Records, and Elektra Records.
It appears that no major changes will happen internally at the label, as Billboard went on to report that any changes will be at the label's head office in the Netherlands. With Cees Wessels remaining as RR's CEO.
An internal message sent out by Cees Wessels to RoadRunner staff reads:
“Since joining the Warner Music family, we have enjoyed some of our greatest creative and commercial successes as a label. Most importantly, we have retained our unique identity while also expanding our horizons, thanks in part to the tremendous expertise and experience we can tap into as part of the Warner Music family and the relationships we have built with our Warner Music colleagues around the world. I am very proud that Roadrunner is now a fully-fledged stable mate of such iconic labels as Atlantic , Warner Bros. Records, Elektra, Asylum and Rhino, and I believe that we are in this position thanks to our team’s hard work and consistently original approach over the years.
The vast majority of our staff around the world will experience little or no change to their roles. However after carefully reviewing our operations, we have decided to transfer the support functions across to our Warner Music colleagues in some territories. This is not an easy process to undertake, but we believe that, by making these changes, we can take Roadrunner to the next level by focusing our resources on marketing our existing line-up of acclaimed artists as well as discovering the stars of tomorrow”.
Korn, I mean KoЯn, revealed the cover art for their upcoming 9th studio album "Korn III: Remember Who You Are," which will also be the band's debut album for Roadrunner Records. The cover art, does vibe their earliest work, in a more disturbing way, but still has a stock photo feel.
The album was produced by Ross Robinson, who handled production duties on the band's first 2 albums, the reason being, that this album supposedly picks up where "KoЯn (1994)" and "Life Is Peachy (1996)"left off, hence the title "Korn III: Remember Who You Are."
The first single for "Oildale (Leave Me Alone)" was recently released. You be the judge!(available after the jump!)
"Korn III: Remember Who You Are" comes out July 14th on RoadRunner Records. Following is the album's track listing:
