Iris Divine - 4 Song EP [Review]

Ok let me start this off by saying, when you try to mix alot of influences all at once to create your own sound, you could fall into alot of pot holes which results in messing up your vibe...That is not the case with Iris Divine, these guys truly know what song structure means.

4 members with a very high level of musicianship, Iris Divine will leave you impressed with their transitions between, some of the bluesiest rock n roll, to some of the chunkiest metal riffs !

The dudes blend all their favorite music into a sense full mix... giving you one hell of a ride, with a ton of ups and downs.

Vocals are sang in perfect harmony along with the music, while solos are executed at the right time, drums hit the spot, while the bass just fills you up !

The 4 song EP has a wide variety with "Unspoken Tragedy" being the one with the most metal edge to it, the band managed to squeeze in alot of ingredients into 4 songs, which makes you wonder how much ass kicking would they do on their full length debut.

Iris Divine are like a heavy umm progressive hard rock band...it'll be hard to label these guys, but they are one hell of a crossover. The influences are just too many (Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Alice In Chains, Rush and so many more) and the guys pull it off... The band's self titled song has one hell of an upbeat structure, but out of the blue you get a breakdown, pretty awesome.

Production on the EP is top notch, and I would like to give the guys 2 thumbs up on the sound quality (judging by their Myspace tracks). My curiosity towards what Iris Divine would be capable of on a full length, gives me a very promising feeling that these guys could shape up a great following and could easily release a classic down the line.

Did I mention that they KICK ASS on their instruments ? they do big time !

Conclusion: If your a fan of rock music which experiments with a wide variety of genres, or a fan of good rock music in general, then Iris Divine are a band seriously worth checking out.

I give Iris Divine a 7.5/10

Make sure to head over to the band's Myspace to get a taste of the awesome 4 song EP they released, and also to get the latest updates on their upcoming shows and material.
