All That Remains - Overcome [Review]
All That Remains recently released their follow up to "Fall Of Ideals" in alot of ways this release is INDEED a follow up to "FOI"the band uses alot of elements from their previous release on "Overcome" its not like its a bad formula or anything, but you get to hear the same awesome transitions in songs, in my honest opinion I love it, they use the same formula but manage to pull off some awesomely fresh and catchy tracks, like "Chiron" shows the band's power of perfectly balancing melody and brutality (similar to tracks on FOI), with some accoustic guitars to tone it down for a bit only to crash you into a destructive solo.
The album's opener "Before The Damned" is a sludgy track with Phil's alternating vocals welcoming you to another release by the band !
"Two Weeks" is one of the track's on the album that show the band's transition into a more "Pop" sound, but still having alot of All That Remains in it.
Phil's vocals shine as an alternating machine of clean singing to growls on tracks like "Forever in your Hands"
"Undone" showcases some of the band's amazing solo skills with Phill singing along to some of the catchiest riffs by the guys!
"Relinquish" is one of the heavier tracks on the album ! with a powerful sludge driven riff !
Jason's drumming shines on tracks like "A Song for the hopeless" "Chiron" and "Do Not Obey"
The album comes to an end with the amazingly covered version of Nevermore's "Belive In Nothing"
The album most probably will face some negative criticism from both fans and reviewers for having an overall "Lighter Tone" then previous releases, but to be honest All That Remains is one of the few bands that could pull off a more pop sound on their releases, their song structures are solid and they still maintain alot of technicality, this album most probably will be bashed by alot, but I'm pretty sure ALOT of people will enjoy it too.
I Give "Overcome" a 8/10
Lastest Video "Two Weeks"

I actually liked the lighter sound on Overcome... that's probably why it feels catchier to me too...
Chiron is an amazing song, got me hooked up right away!
