Trent Reznor "Tweets" The New Chris Cornell Album !

Apparently Trent Reznor is not liking the new Chris Cornell album, along with anyone with a functioning brain and human characteristics.

Trent left this awesome message on his personal "Twitter" page (yup, Twitter is a news source now)

“You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus.”

Chris, Bro ! we are here for you, we are all worried sick, are you sure you dont remember where you dropped your nutts ?

Norther And Petri Lindroos Part Ways

Alright so as any Norther or Ensiferum fan knows (unless your a douche) Petri Lindroos fronts both bands, and I even asked Kristian about this in the past, which back then sounded like it wont be a problem, but it seems like Petri's commitments with Ensiferum has forced his fellow band mates in Norther to ask him to leave the band, giving both sides a better chance to focus on future endeavors whether it be with Norther, or folk growling metallers Ensiferum.

Major let down for Norther fans since Petri brought alot to the table. Alot of the band's fans are bummed out about the whole thing.

To the extent that a female fan left this message on their Myspace "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! guys please work it out!!!!! omg this is horrible...please please please work it out with petri!"... now thats just adorable.

The band has an active e-mail for vocalists interested in trying out for the position (playing the guitar is an additional point)

Here's more information about Petri's departure and for the open spot in the band:

"Finnish metal band Norther parts ways with long time singer/guitarist Petri Lindroos. Norther was forced to let Petri go to be able to continue. Petri..s full time engagement in Ensiferum increasingly prevented Norther from functioning as an active band. Petri wishes Norther all the best for the future. Current Norther crew, Kristian, Jukka, Tuomas and Heikki, wants to thank Petri for all these great years together and wishes him the best of luck with Ensiferum. Norther was founded in 2000 and has so far released five full length albums, 2 EPs, a DVD, four singles and a movie soundtrack for a Finnish film V2. During the years Norther has done extensive touring with bands like Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy, Turisas, Finntroll etc. Norther is currently signed to Century Media Records (Europe and USA) and Marquee Avalon (Japan)."

More info about trying out for Norther:

"Norther is now looking for a new full time singer. We are looking for a versatile, creative individual with high motivation and a preferable capability of singing in different styles. The person we are looking for must be at least 20 years of age and preferably live in Finland. Guitar playing skills are considered as an advantage but not necessary. If you feel you might be the one, please download the following instrumental version of our song Frozen Angel. Return it to us with your own vocals recorded on top to singer@norther.net in MP3 format. You can download the song here, and the lyrics here. It is also possible to send a free-form audio or video sample of yourself.

We offer the new singer a possibility to rock around the globe in
an excellent team and enjoy the full benefits of being in an
international heavy metal band.

May the best one win, the search is on!!

All the best,
Norther"

Korn's Fieldy Writes An Apology Letter For Fellow Band Members

A born again Christian, who quit drugs, booze, fatness and anything that would make this story more interesting ..COLD TURKEY !

Fieldy who slaps the bass for Nu Metal turd nuggets Korn (yes anyone involved with the new Lil Wayne album, is pure constipation to say the least) released a book recently titled "Got The Life" in which he writes an "Open Apology Letter" for fellow band members, and the reason he did that is to (sell more copies of the book) show the band that he's "open about his sobriety".

Here's some more information:

"The members of Korn are about to get a big apology from one of their own — and you can read it along with them.

Bassist Fieldy has released a book, "Got the Life: My Journey of Addiction, Faith, Recovery and Korn," this week. The book includes letters Fieldy (born Reginald Arvizu) wrote to each band member apologizing for his past bad behavior.

Fieldy said he gave an advance copy to guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer but he has yet to hear his reaction. He said he expects frontman Jonathan Davis to read it as well. He didn't give them the letters privately because he wanted to be open about his sobriety.

Fieldy, 39, struggled with alcohol, drugs and overeating. He would even eat food off other people's used room-service trays — even trash cans. He also was a womanizer and liked to intimidate anyone, male or female, who disagreed with what he calls "Fieldy's rules."

He quit cold turkey when his father, a born-again Christian, told him his dying wish was for his son to find God. Now he's married with three children and working on a new album with Korn and his side project, Stillwell.

AP: You were kind of a jerk when you were on drugs.

Fieldy: I was as bad as it gets. What I wrote in the book, I was probably worse than that. I couldn't really explain how bad it was. Me trying to kill people wasn't as bad as me tearing people down and making people cry and ripping them apart, because words never heal. That's what I've learned. I'd rather raise my son and tell him, "If you get in a fight with your friend, just punch him. Don't say anything, because the next day he doesn't get over that.'"

AP: How old were you when you became an alcoholic?

Fieldy: About 13 or 14. I was full-blown. Every day we would hide the alcohol, stealing from stores or stealing it from our parents and hiding out in dirt fields and drinking it before school and after school.

AP: What could someone have said to you then to make you stop?

Fieldy: If somebody told me, "Not a good idea," I would've said, "No, it's probably a good idea if you get drunk with me." I would've flipped it around on them. There was no way you could tell me anything. I wasn't listening to any type of reason.

AP: You mention in your book you got your pills from "rock doctors." How did that work?

Fieldy: In the rock 'n roll slang world, they're called rock doctors, or rock docs. They would come out to shows and like to hang backstage. You could get a prescription for anything you want from them. They just want to hang out and party. It's crazy because you can get a prescription to anything. It doesn't even matter what kind of doctor they are

AP: You quit cold turkey — no rehab, no Alcoholic Anonymous meetings. How did you pull that off?

Fieldy: I talk to people who go to rehab, and they get this AA book that they've got to read everyday — really thick book. They go through all these 12 steps and do all this and that. It's crazy how everybody can sit and talk about rehab but if I come to say Christ was my rehab, it's not cool to say that. ... For me that's my rehab. That's what happened with me and it's an amazing and powerful thing.

AP: Your former bandmate, Brian "Head" Welch, faced criticism when he decided to follow God and quit drugs. Do you think you will too?

Fieldy: I didn't go and quit anything. I remained who I am, so I don't know if anybody wants to criticize. I'm still me. I made some changes, I didn't go around telling everybody I was ready to make changes, I just remained me. I may get more criticism today in putting this book out than I have. You know, maybe this is my time, but I'm ready to take the criticism and answer anybody's questions."

Fieldy is one hell of mother f'ing bass player and when I say slaps the bass for Korn I really mean it, the dude used to slap that bass and some of the crunchiest lines would come out ... Oh well, this freak is back on a leash.

Limp Bizkit Posts Rehearsal Videos Online

Alright I wont comment much about this, so here's one of the songs the band rehearsed and recorded on their official site "My Way"

*Quality matches the music.

Blind Guardian Are Done With 8 Tracks !

German Power Metal legends Blind Guardian, are working on a new album, and so far alot of good things could be said about the release, which frontman Hansi Kürsch did in the following announcement:

"We have already accomplished eight new songs. What can I say about these songs? They rule, of course. You want a more precise description? Impossible. All I can say is that each and every song is 100% Blind Guardian, which naturally means there is a wild bunch of different things going on from time to time (always?).

According to atmospheres: we have everything from the more Nightfallish "Curse My Name," to the Scriptish "Wheel Of Time." In comparison to A Twist In The Myth the lyrical direction will be more on the fantasy side as you most probably can figure out by these titles. The song "Sacred" will give you an idea about the quality and the direction of the songs.

We have mixed modern elements with traditional ones throughout the whole songs. We may need two or three more tracks before we can call it a complete album, but being that far in the songwriting process we nevertheless have made first plans for a production start in September or October 2009.

Apart from songwriting we will be heavily engaged in preproduction activities and in playing festivals during the next months. As a majority of the new songs seem to demand a sort of "live" atmosphere, we consider it to be good idea breathing in some real "live" air before we will finally get lost in the "Twilight Hall studios" again.

In accordance to these events I can promise you some surprising songs (though most probably no new ones) and a nice stage set up. In total we are not going to play more than ten shows, I would think. I am sure they all will turn out to be a great blast and a unique experience for everyone joining us."

Stratovarius Announce New Album

Finnish Power Metal heavyweights Stratovarius recently posted the following news concerning their forthcoming studio album on their website:

Stratovarius will release their brand new studio album, "Polaris", on May 21st, 2009. This new album will see a worldwide release by the band's new label partner edel under the new imprint earMUSIC outside of Asia, and the band's long time label partner for Asia, JVC.

Jens Johansson states, "We are very happy to have found strong label partners for the future of Stratovarius who truly believe in the band and are as enthusiastic as we are. I can't wait to hit the road again and meet all fans who supported us through all our good and bad times."

Max Vaccaro, of earMUSIC / edel adds: "We are very honoured to welcome Stratovarius in our family; "Polaris" is in fact a special album for edel. Like for Stratovarius, it's a sort of new start, we are in fact entering a new exciting chapter in our lives, the launch of a the new label earMUSIC, to coincide with the release of this fantastic new album with a renewed line-up and an overwhelming energy. One thing is for sure, Stratovarius fans will agree with us in welcoming the extraordinary talent of the new guitar player Matias Kupiainen and immediately reckon "Polaris" to be a true Stratovarius classic."

Says Seigo Horiuchi of JVC/Victor Entertainment, Inc., Japan: "We are proud of our long and successful history with this great band and are very excited to be a part of their new beginning."

In September 2008 the band found the freedom to go into seclusion for almost a month in a cottage by the sea in a Finnish forest to relax, laugh, write songs, be creative together, and record. And they found themselves being a band reborn. The result is a melodic, powerful, fresh, tight, and technically elaborate new album. Powerful melodies mingle with sophisticated arrangements, strong anthems stand alongside heavy songs. There are 11 songs full of energy, musicianship, and a positive outlook.

"Polaris" was recorded in the fall 2008 at Hästholmen and 5by5 studios, Helsinki, Finland. It was mixed by the legendary Mikko Karmila, who has a long history with the band.

Vocalist Timo Kotipelto explains, "Polaris is a positive, powerful album that Stratovarius fans all over the world are certain to take to their hearts."

The band will support the release of their new studio album with a massive world tour. The tour will start in the UK, followed by European dates. September will see Stratovarius playing live shows in Asia, followed by a full North and South American tour in September/October. A European headliner tour is scheduled for January 2010.

Gorgoroth Law Suit Comes To An End !

The following has been announced about the ongoing law suit between Gorgoroth members:

"Oslo City District Court has today (Tuesday, March 10th) delivered a verdict on the main question in the Gorgoroth trademark case, which took place at the end of January 2009.

The court has decided that King Ov Hell's trademark registration #243365 of the band name Gorgoroth is NOT valid and shall therefore be deleted.

The court states that King Ov Hell and Gaahl excluded themselves from the band Gorgoroth when they tried to fire Infernus in October 2007.

The court further states that Infernus cannot be excluded from Gorgoroth, unless he himself decides to quit.

Infernus is very pleased, but not surprised, by this verdict. The remaining issues concerning financial matters and such are yet to be decided upon."

Guess Who's Back ?

Thats right Varg Vikernes (a.k.a. Count Grishnackh) the mastermind behind black metal band Burzum, who killed Euronymous (Mayhem) and set fire to three churches is being set free, after 16 years in prison, on parole.

Varg had this to say about getting out of prison:

"I'm ready for society — and I have been for many years," Vikernes told Dagbladet last July . "I have learned from my mistakes and become older. Now I just want to be together with my family. My mind has never been in prison; I think all the time about what I should do on the day that I am released." He added, "I have barely seen my son since he came into the world. Even though I hear his voice on the phone almost every day, it is very tough to not be present while he is growing up. I miss my family. And I look forward the day that I could work on my farm, create music, write books and be with the wife and kids around the clock — and live a normal life. I have received tremendous support from my family. It means a lot."

I dont know man, something sounds fishy ... I have this weird feeling that we'll be watching a youtube clip of his arrest once again soon, while he laughs out of insanity as they shove his head into the squad car. Why ? hmmm I dont know but him trying to escape prison back in 2003, tells me that he didnt actually learn his lesson ... meh

Chimaira Wrap Up Video Shoot For "Destroy And Dominate"

"Chimaira recently finished shooting a new video for "Destroy and Dominate." The piece was directed by Todd Bell and should surface later this month.

Guitarist Rob Arnold comments: "Just finished shooting for our new video "Destroy & Dominate"! We shot in our home town of Cleveland, Ohio, with long time friend and film maker Todd Bell. Todd is responsible for both of our documentaries "The Dehumanizing Process", and "The Resurrection", as well as our brand new, in-the-works DVD, due out early next year. He's also shot a handful of our music video's, photo's, and more. So expect nothing less than superior quality and creativity on Destroy & Dominate! I wish I could tell you all more about what to expect content wise, but I myself am still waiting to see the first rough cut! But I certainly have no doubts that it will crush! Keep your eyes peeled!"
