Shaun Glass [Dirge Within] Recaps 2009
Dirge Within is the brainchild of Ex-SOiL guitarist Shaun Glass, who decided to start the band as a much more aggressive outlet to his creativity (as in he wanted to play some heavy as fuck metal, instead of rushing into the mainstream)Dirge Within where recently part of Trivium's "Into The Mouth of Hell We Tour" supporting their debut album"Force Fed Lies" categorized best as a really heavy modern metal release.
Shaun was nice enough to answer a few questions recapping 2009, answering questions about the band's debut album, his favorite releases of the year, the global recession and more.
Here's how it went:
TMR: 2009 saw the release of Dirge Within’s debut album “Force Fed Lies”. Which has been receiving positive reviews everywhere, looking back, are you satisfied with the end result?
Shaun: 100% i think we made an album that is true to our sound.all the songs each showcase something special in our sound.too many bands these days try and sound like 200 other bands,dirge within is a tad more unique than alot of the re hashed stuff fed to the masses
TMR: 2009 was also a great year for metal; what are some of your favorite albums of the year?
Shaun: i love the latest dream theatre,they really captured some amazing sounds and songs on it.also the last devildriver is sick.
TMR: Now that the decade is coming to an end, what are some of your favorite releases in the 2000s?
Shaun: that is so hard i would have to sit here for 5 hours to do it justice haha the new megadeth-ENDGAME is truly slamming
TMR: The global recession has been a very effect step back for a lot of events, and festivals. Did the recession effect your state of metal?
Shaun: of course people have less $ to buy cd's etc.one thing that is important is your live show.we feel proud that when we hit the stage it is Game on.kill or be killed is my moto.fuckin metal!
