Physical copies of the album will not be available until next year, but when they are released there will be alot of awesome bonus material to drop your pants...I mean fork over your money to buy.

One of the many reasons I love Earache o'so much, is the fact that At The Gates released and took over the melodeath scene with "Slaughter Of The Soul" after the shitty time they had with their previous label.

Earache always takes chances with their bands (which is friggin metal) I salute them for being one of the awesomest extreme labels on planet earth!

GAMA BOMB
Frontman And Earache Records Founder Discuss "Free Album" Via Rapidshare

Earache Records recently announced that GAMA BOMB's new album, TALES FROM THE GRAVE IN SPACE, is to be released in its entirety as a download for free on November 5th 2009. The album was produced by Scott Atkins and will be available from November 5th, powered by RapidShare, at www.earache.com/gamabomb

Lately the music industry has been at odds with file-sharers. There have been many initiatives by the music industry to improve relations with governments in the wake of proposals to penalise illegal file-sharers by means of a huge fine or the suspension of their internet connection. In June 2009 in the USA, single mother of four Jammie Thomas-Rasset was sued to the tune of $1.92m by the RIAA for copyright infringement on just 24 songs.

Many artists have heavily objected to file-sharing. Vocalist Lily Allen wrote in her blog: "I think music piracy is having a dangerous effect on British music, but some really rich and successful artists like Nick Mason from Pink Floyd and Ed O'Brien from Radiohead don't seem to think so... These guys from huge bands said file-sharing music is fine. It probably is fine for them. They do sell-out arena tours and have the biggest Ferrari collections in the world. For new talent though, file-sharing is a disaster as it's making it harder and harder for new acts to emerge".

One can't claim that Gama Bomb are selling out arenas - they are a new talent, but unlike Lily Allen, Philly Byrne, vocalist of GAMA BOMB, is an open advocate of file-sharing: "Like most people, we download music and we do it for free when we have to. It's great - where else can you get Brain Implosion's EP, or Agent Steel live bootlegs? Downloading is the geek's best friend, and geeks are we."

Byrne has stated his opinions at length on MTV's Headbanger's Blog.

GAMA BOMB and Earache Records have partnered with RapidShare for the release of "TALES FROM THE GRAVE IN SPACE." Earache and GAMA BOMB´s aim is to grow the overall fanbase of the band and to promote the sales of the CD - to eventually be released in 2010 - as well as concert ticket sales through the more widespread distribution of the music.

Unlike RADIOHEAD and NINE INCH NAILS who have given away albums for free whilst unsigned to a record label, GAMA BOMB are a current, working band signed to a traditional record deal with Earache Records. This release is fully funded and supported by Earache Records and represents a landmark in digital media as this is the first time this has been attempted by a signed artist.

Digby Pearson, Founder and Managing Director of Earache Records says: "The idea is for the greater good, to give fans a taste of Gama Bomb for free, legally... It's got the permission of the label and the band - here's the album for free, and please take it, spread it, pass it on". He continues, "Actually, the cost saving of distribution through the internet is a big incentive for us. Piracy is not a problem, because if a fan passes on the download link it can also be seen as free promotion for the band. In the future we expect digital music to be ubiquitous and the payments made to the artists or those who look after the artists to be small but consistent".

"We're giving the album away for free as a natural progression", comments GAMA BOMB
frontman Philly Byrne. "It's an open-handed gesture that reflects the room the download revolution has created in the music business; the label is up for it, which would have been impossible 10 years ago. Also, it's a box-breaker for us - taking away the many restrictions of a physical-only traditional release opens us up to a new and wider audience. More people will hear the music and enjoy it and talk about it, and if that leads to them helping us out by buying a t-shirt or coming to a show, so be it. We're making our own kind of history here, and it's exciting. It's an open road, so let's go. It's in step with the way things are going... Every band is making every album to give it away for nothing because everybody's just taking it... So why not just say to people you can have it? The value of it isn't predicated just on the money it's worth".

Bobby Chang, COO of RapidShare comments: "We are pleased to help Earache Records support Gama Bomb's new album and explore new ways of marketing. We believe that the ability to spread electronic content fast and easy will become one of the keys to success as consumers devote more and more time to the internet."

"We want to embrace what people are considering the future and we're willing to give it a go" adds Digby Pearson. Philly Byrne closes, "If Earache are known for anything it's for doing things that are outside of the norm. It's good to be on a label which is willing to take chances".
