Dio Was Diagnosed With Stomach Cancer

Ronnie James Dio (Heaven And Hell, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and Dio) one of heavy metal's forefathers was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer, his wife Wendy Dio issued the following:

"Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.

Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.

Dio's most recent work was the reincarnation of his days with Black Sabbath, forming the same line-up under the moniker Heaven and Hell releasing their debut album "The Devil You Know" earlier this year. Ronnie was forced to cancel his current European tour with his main band Dio.
