"A Word" With Regi from D.A.M.N. !

D.A.M.N. are a death metal band from Braunschweig, Germany. D.A.M.N.'s music is reminiscent of the classic "Gothenburg Sound".

The band's 2007 release "Vermächtnis" has been getting great reviews from the German press, and the group are currently working on releasing their upcoming album "Forbidden Anger"

I got the chance to catch up with the band's drummer Regi, and ask him about the new record, what's he currently listening to, how he got together with the rest of D.A.M.N. and more,

Here's how it went:


TMR: First of all, I'd like to thank you for this opportunity, hows everything going ?

Regi: Everything goes slowly at this time, the winter is long and cold this year in germany, hehe. Everybody have important things to do and we have to fight with money problems. The band is still working at new songs and we have a lot of fun J



TMR: Can you tell us a bit about D.A.M.N., how did you guys get together ?

Regi: Ohh, it´s a long story, I can tell you something about me and d.a.m.n. . the rest before me, you can read under this link: http://damnmetal.de/band.htm

Daniel and I come together at work, he came to our group in a steel factory and from one hour to the next, we laughing together, it was my new friend but I don´t know this at this time, hehe.

Two years later and after a large mix of whisky, party´s and other things the band came to me and asked: “do you want to play the drums in our band?”. That was in dezember 2006 and the beginning of D.iary A.bout M.y N.ightmares and a real friendship between us.



TMR: Whats the best way to describe D.A.M.N.'s sound ?

Regi: Somebody say´s our sound is like arch enemy…?, I don´t know why. I don´t know this band till I have played one year at d.a.m.n., so it´s crazy to say something like that. The sound comes from Daniel, he is the man who create this singularly guitar riffs. The drummer before me had an other view to this music. I try to support d.a.m.n.´s sound so good as i can and the results are great. The new album will show you what i mean.



TMR: What can you tell us about your new album "Forbidden Anger" ?

Regi: Nothing…….,hehe. It´s a secret, hehe, no…..at first ähhhhm we worked real hard to finish and record this album. Well, when i want to hear a metal album like slayer or kreator i expect something of it. Powerfull and agressive sound….it must crash my brain and i will be happy to hear it. So, forbidden anger is one of this metal albums that give me exactly this. We have an advantage at this time…..we already heard it but there´s not a long time left to hear it too J




TMR: What do you enjoy doing more, recording in the studio, or going on tour ?

Regi: Going on tour is funny, studio can be funny too but we´re still working to record the music in a view time. I think to go on tour is better, hehehe



TMR: Which bands are you currently listening to ?

Regi: The guys listen to bands like behemoth, kataklysm and some hiphop like dendeman or sido etc. Toni like the sound of meat loaf and depeche mode and some boygroup sound…. Can´t give you names, ahhh, wait….. think…., don´t know, sorry, ask herself, hihi.

My favorite bands are slayer, kreator, artillery, behemoth,ac/dc, some old shool rock from the seventies like jimmy hendrix, deep purple, bob marley, eric burdon, johnny cash and and one mixes more.



TMR: The video for Vermächtnis, is pretty brutal, when can we expect another video to be released ?

Regi: When?....ohhh I don´t know, we have a good friend to make a new video but i think we have to wait for a contract with a label to answer the question of the financially. To make a professionell video is an expensive thing and we can´t do it without some help but we do it so fast as we can, that´s true.



TMR: Whats your favorite perks about being in a metal band ?

Regi: I have played in many metal bands all my life, just for fun. I think, at the age of…21, that i can be famous but we didn´t work hard enough. There are no perks, i do it because it´s my life to make music and the things they happen in the future……i send it to me J



TMR: Once again I'd like to thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, would you like to add anything ?

Regi: It was really difficult to answer your questions in english, I worked sometimes with a translator, so i´m sorry for some mistakes. The most problem is to write the lines how i think. There are many more things to say but i can´t do it in english because i don´t want to sit here for two days and nights, hehehe.
